Heat Resistant Paint 800°C for Grilles and Metal Parts

Packaging of Vitcas heat-resistant paint for metal components

Painting a grille or steel detail makes sense only when the component remains functional and its coating needs renewal. First, determine what the part is made of and what temperature its surface reaches. Paint will not repair corrosion that has weakened the metal, nor will it turn an ordinary component into thermal insulation.

Assess the substrate before choosing the colour

On the cold element, check for peeling of old paint, rust, and grease. Loose coating and corrosion must be removed down to a stable substrate. For existing paint, determine its compatibility with the new paint; a random primer can become the weakest layer of the entire finish.

Black heat-resistant paint Vitcas has a declared resistance up to 800°C and is intended for properly prepared surfaces. For a different colour, check its own technical sheet. Within the paint family, variants with different limitations are available, so the brand name alone does not determine the temperature resistance of each coating.

Leave the grille openings clear.

If the grille can be removed according to the instructions, it is easier to prepare it outside the fireplace casing. Protect adjacent elements and the workspace. Do not fill the gaps with a thick layer of paint or paint mechanisms whose operation depends on free movement.

Apply the coating under the conditions and in the layers specified by the manufacturer. Several thick passes do not automatically provide better resistance than a properly applied thin coating. Also avoid leaving sanding dust under the paint.

Dry to the touch does not mean ready for full heating.

Check the drying and curing requirements of the specific variant. Plan appropriate ventilation during application and the first heating. Do not spray aerosol onto a hot part or near an open flame.

After finishing, install the part according to its original arrangement and check that the vent holes are not blocked. If the paint peels again in the same spot, compare the temperature, metal preparation, and compliance of previous layers, instead of covering the problem with another coat.
