A heat resistant construction board is not automatically suitable for an exposed outdoor installation. When planning an outdoor kitchen, first check the conditions for using CS boards, and only then select thickness and finish. Rain, moisture, and frost require a separate assessment of the entire system.
Start with the current product data sheet
Vitcas Fireplace Construction Board CS is a calcium silicate construction board described for appropriate fireplace installations. The current datasheet indicates indoor applications. This does not confirm that any garden wall made from this board will be a suitable solution.
Before ordering, present the installation site, roofing, anticipated moisture, and winter conditions to the supplier. Confirm suitability for the complete proposed layer arrangement. Simply covering the board with tiles or painting it does not constitute documentation allowing outdoor installation.
Draw all pathways of water ingress
Include upper edges, connections with the countertop, the base, and fixing penetrations. The roof can limit direct rainfall but does not remove moisture from the surroundings or runoff from adjacent elements. The design should also show the terminations of the cover, not just the large flat surface.
If the proposed system does not have confirmed use under the given conditions, select another external solution along with its installer. Do not attempt to extend the product's application range by adding an arbitrary primer or adhesive.
Check the fastening and temperature of the entire finish
If the complete proposed application is confirmed, follow the instructions for handling, fastening, and surface preparation. The adhesive, connections, and top layer have their own requirements. The thermal class of the board does not automatically determine the parameters of all adjacent materials.
Record the approved cross-section and product names for each layer. Check which elements can be inspected or replaced later. Such prepared documentation allows the contractor’s proposal to be assessed before cutting the boards and covering areas most exposed to water.
